Official Rules

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS CONTEST. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. INTERNET ACCESS REQUIRED.

1. Eligibility: Great Moms. Grateful Words. Mother's Day Program (the "Program" or "Contest") is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, who are at least eighteen (18) years old (or 19 for residents of AL and NE) at the time of entry. Employees of Pier 1 Services Company, Pier 1 Imports, Brandmovers, Inc., and their respective parent and affiliate companies as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and children) and household members of each such employees are not eligible to participate. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited or restricted. Participation constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Sponsor's decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.

2. Sponsor: Pier 1 Services Company, 100 Pier 1 Imports Place, Fort Worth, TX 76102 ("SPONSOR"). Administrator: Brandmovers Inc., 1575 Northside Drive, Bldg. 200, Suite 200, Atlanta, GA 30318 ("ADMINISTRATOR").

3. Promotional Period: The Contest begins on April 28, 2014 at 12:00:01 a.m. Eastern Time ("ET"), and ends on May 11, 2014 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET (the "Promotion Period"). Promotion Period consists of a Submission Period, Voting Period, and Judging Period as described below.

Submission Period: Entries may be submitted in the Contest beginning on April 28, 2014 at 12:00:01 a.m. ET, and ends on May 4, 2014 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET (the "Submission Period"). All entries must be received by May 4, 2014 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET.

Voting Period: Voting begins on May 8, 2014 at 12:00:00 a.m. ET, and ends May 11, 2014 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET (the "Voting Period"). All votes must be received by May 11, 2014 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET.

Judging Period: Sponsor judging will be broken into two (2) phases. Phase 1 (the, "Phase 1") to select the ten (10) semi-finalists begins on or about May 5, 2014. Phase 2 (the, "Phase 2") to select the Contest winners begins on or about May 12, 2014. A total of six (6) winners (the "Contest Winners") will be selected by the panel of qualified judges on or about May 12, 2014.

Sponsor's computer is the official time-keeping device for the Contest.

4. How to Enter: To enter the Contest, entrant ("Entrant") must visit www.pier1.com/grateful ("Website") at any time during the Submission Period and follow the on-screen instructions to enter by completing all required fields on the Website. To enter, Entrant must submit and complete the following, which shall be defined collectively as a "Submission": (a) an official entry form, with all required information which will include full name, email address, and birth date; (b) electronically agree to the Official Rules; (c) submit their original essay (please see subsection 4.A. below for required essay contents) selecting if your essay is "About Mom" or "Being Mom" and; (d) submit a photo of either the mom being honored or a photo of themselves or their family being honored. Limit: Entrant may enter into the Contest only one (1) time throughout the Promotion Period. Multiple Submissions by the same Entrant are not permitted. Multiple Entrants for a single Submission are not permitted. Any attempt by any Entrant to enter more than the stated number of Submissions by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations, or any other methods will void that Entrant's Submissions and that Entrant may be disqualified at Sponsor's sole discretion.

Any use of robotic, repetitive, automatic, programmed or similar entry methods or agents will void all entries made by, or associated with, the applicable Entrant. In the event of a dispute over who submitted a Submission, the authorized subscriber of the e-mail account provided in connection with the Submission, as of the actual time of entry will be deemed to be the Entrant. The "authorized account subscriber" is defined as the natural person who is assigned an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g. business, education, institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.

Essay Content Requirements, Terms and Restrictions:

A. Essay Requirements:

i. Essay must: (a) be an original essay, (b) not be a copy or imitation of an existing essay; (c) not have previously won awards or been used to enter into any other contest; (d) have never been published, and (v) not violate the rights of any other person or entity.

ii. Essay must consist of at least 300 words, and no more than 1,000 words.

iii. Essay must include the following for either "About Mom" or "Being Mom":

a. "About Mom" why Entrant is grateful for their Mom or a Mom in their life and why the woman being honored needs a makeover, as well as upload a photo of the woman being honored.

b. "Being Mom" why Entrant is grateful to be a Mom and why they need a makeover, as well as upload a photo of themselves or themselves with their family.

B. Submission Terms:

i. Entrants agree to and understand that Submissions will be made available to the public, including without limitation, posting on the Internet. Whether or not Submissions are published on the Internet, Sponsor does not covenant or guarantee any confidentiality with respect to any Submissions.

ii. Each Submission must be an original creation of the submitting Entrant which is under no restriction, contractual or otherwise, that will prevent Sponsor's use of the Submission and each Submission must be free of any and all liens, encumbrances and claims of third parties. Entrant acknowledges, agrees and warrants that, nothing in the Submission infringes on any copyrights, confidential information, trade secrets or trademarks belonging to any person or entity other than the Entrant absent a suitable license, clearance or permission agreement (proof of which is required upon submission), or violates any person's rights of privacy or publicity and that all necessary releases and permissions have been secured including, but not limited to, permission from each person depicted in the submitted photo to post their picture or a picture in which they appear publicly on the internet.. Entrant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless each of Sponsor and Administrator, and each of their owners, officers, directors, employees, franchisees and affiliated organizations, and their respective officers, directors and employees, from and against any and all claims, demands, damages, costs, liabilities and causes of action of whatsoever nature that are based upon or arise out of any breach by Entrant of these Official Rules or the warranties and representations made by Entrant in this paragraph. Modifying, enhancing or altering a third party's preexisting work does not qualify as Entrant's original creation.

iii. By uploading the Submission, the Entrant agrees, for zero compensation, to grant to Sponsor all intellectual property rights in the Entry and each of its constituent parts, which rights include, without limitation, the Sponsor's right to publish, make available to the public and/or reproduce the Submission through any media available at any time during, or after, the Promotion Period on any medium, in any promotional materials, whether related or un-related to the Contest, and at any other location, whether physical or online, that Sponsor, in its sole discretion, deems appropriate and necessary for the operation and promotion of this Contest. In addition, Entrant warrants that any so called "moral rights" in the Entry have been waived and Entrant acknowledges and agrees that Sponsor may use any ideas from any Entry or other submitted materials, whether or not Entrant has been awarded a prize in connection with any such Entry or other materials. Entrant agrees to release, defend, indemnify and hold harmless each of Sponsor and Administrator, and each of their owners, employees, directors, officers, agents, franchisees, subcontractors, and licensees from all claims, demands, and causes of action of any nature whatsoever which Entrant or Entrant's heirs, representatives, executors, administrators, or any other persons acting on Participant's behalf or on behalf of Participant's estate, have or may have by reason of: (i) Sponsor's exercise of any rights granted by Entrant in this paragraph; (ii) claims based on violation of any right of publicity or rights of personality, infringement of copyright or trademark, libel, slander, defamation, invasion of privacy, loss of earnings or potential earnings in connection with Sponsor's use of the Entry and any portion thereof, or the likeness of any natural person therein.

C. Submission Content Restrictions: Submissions must not contain material that:

iv. References tobacco, smoking or smoking products or alcoholic beverages, or otherwise contains or depicts someone smoking or intoxicated;

v. Violates or infringes another's rights, including without limitation, privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, or that constitutes copyright infringement;

vi. Contains material that promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age;

vii. Contains or displays any commercial/corporate advertising other than that of Sponsor (including but not limited to corporate logos, brand names, trademarks, slogans, political, personal and religious statements);

viii. Contains indecent, violent, or unsafe behavior or situations, profanities or obscenities, including but not limited to nudity, or pornography, or is otherwise inappropriate, indecent, profane, obscene, hateful, tortuous, slanderous or libelous;

ix. References persons or organizations without their written permission;

x. Disparages any persons or organizations;

xi. Includes threats to any person, place, business, or group;

xii. Is unlawful, in violation of or contrary to all applicable federal, state, or local laws and regulations.

Failure of any Submission to comply with the above "Submission Requirements" and "Submission Content Restrictions," as determined by Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may result in disqualification of Entrant. Without limitation, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any Entry that, in their sole opinion, refers, depicts or in any way reflects negatively upon the Sponsor, the Contest or any other person or entity, does not comply with these Official Rules or if Sponsor receives notification about any potential infringements or breaches of law or any other reason set forth herein. All Entries shall become the exclusive property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Entries must be suitable for presentation in a public forum, in sole determination of Sponsor.

5. Winner Selection:

A. Selection of Semi-Finalists:

During Phase 1 of the Judging Period (please see section 3. above for Judging Period details), a panel of judges to be selected by the Sponsor (the "Pier 1 Panel of Judges") will review the submissions and select the ten (10) semi-finalists (the "Semi-Finalists") - five (5) from the "About Mom" section and five (5) from the "Being Mom" section. The Pier 1 Panel of Judges will select the Semi-Finalists using the following judging criteria ("Judging Criteria").

· Quality and Overall Impression of why Entrant feels they or their Mom deserve a Pier 1 Imports gift card to complete a makeover (worth 45%)

· Originality of Essay depicting why Entrant is Grateful (worth 35%)

· Public Votes (worth 20%)

B. Selection of Finalists

During the Voting Period (please see section 3. above for Voting Period details) the ten (10) Semi-Finalists") - five (5) from the "About Mom" section and five (5) from the "Being Mom" section - will be posted on the Website. Individuals from the general public will be able to vote once for their favorite Semi-Finalists during the Voting Period. Voters can vote by visiting the Website, visiting their favorite entry, submitting their email address and clicking "Vote". Limit: one (1) vote per user, per valid email address, per section ("About Mom" and "Being Mom") throughout the Voting Period. The top three (3) Semi-Finalists from "About Mom" section and the top three (3) Semi-Finalists from "Being Mom" section with the most votes during the Voting Period will be deemed Finalists and will be voted on using the Judging Criteria set forth in subsection 5.A. above.

C. Selection of Winners: During Phase 2 of the Judging Period (please see section 3. above for Judging Period details), the Pier 1 Panel of Judges, will select the winners from each section from among the top three (3) Finalists using the Judging Criteria set forth in subsection 5.A. above. In the event of a tie, the tying Submissions will be judged using the Judging Criteria set forth in subsection 5.A. above to determine who the Winner will be from among all tying Finalists.

All decisions of Sponsor are final and binding in all respects, including as to the selection and final determination of Winners. Potential Winners will be selected on or about May 12, 2014, or as soon thereafter as reasonably practicable, and will be notified via email. Any and all information regarding the Judging Criteria and the results for each Entrant is the exclusive property of Sponsor and shall not be distributed and/or returned to Entrant.

If a potential Winner of the Grand Prize and Runner-Up Prize either declines a Prize, or does not respond to the potential prize notification within twenty-four (24) hours of such notice, or is otherwise deemed ineligible to accept the Prize, that person will be deemed to have forfeited the Prize, and up to two (2) alternate Grand Prize Winners, and up to one (1) alternate Runner-Up Winner, will be chosen by the Pier 1 Panel of Judges by re-evaluating the remaining top Finalists or Semi-Finalists according to the above mentioned criteria after the disqualification of the previous potential Winner. In order to receive a Prize, a winning Entrant will also be required to complete and return to Sponsor, or its designated agent, an Affidavit of Eligibility and a Liabilities/Publicity Release Form, except where prohibited by law, within twenty-four (24) hours of receipt of such form. Failure to return the signed Affidavit and Release may result in forfeiture of the Prize, except where prohibited by law. All Prizes are subject to verification of eligibility as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion and strict compliance with these Official Rules. If no potential Winner is ascertainable for a particular Prize after the three (3) attempts referenced above, that particular prize will remain un-awarded, and Sponsor is under no obligation to continue to attempt to award any un-awarded prizes.

6. Prizes

Exactly two (2) Grand Prizes ("Grand Prizes") will be awarded. One Grand Prize Winner for "Being Mom" ("Being Mom Grand Prize Winner") and one Grand Prize Winner for "About Mom" ("About Mom Grand Prize Winner") will be awarded a Grand Prize consisting of a one thousand, five hundred dollar ($1,500) Pier 1 Imports Gift Card.

Total Approximate Retail Value ("ARV") of each Grand Prize: $1,500 USD.

Total ARV of all Grand Prizes: $3,000 USD.

Exactly four (4) Runner Up Prizes ("Second Place Prize") will be awarded. Two Runner-Up Prize Winners for "Being Mom" ("Being Mom Runner-Up Winners") and Two Runner-Up Prize Winners for "About Mom" ("About Mom Runner-Up Winners") will be awarded a Runner-Up Prize consisting of a five hundred dollar ($500) Pier 1 Imports Gift Card.

Total ARV of each Runner-Up Prize: $500 USD.

Total ARV of all Runner-Up Prizes: $2,000 USD

Total ARV of all Promotion Prizes: $5,000 USD.

Winner will be solely responsible for all, as applicable: sales tax and all other federal, state, local or other tax liabilities; additional equipment; insurance; maintenance; and all other fees and expenses associated with receipt and use of any prize. Any difference between the stated ARV and actual ARV will not be awarded. Winner must be 18 years of age or older (except residents of AL and NE who must be 19); must complete, sign and return all affidavits, releases and other documents required by Sponsor. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend or cancel the participation of any winner due to noncompliance with any security procedure or inappropriate behavior or misconduct at Sponsor's sole discretion. If any of the foregoing prize details are delayed, postponed or cancelled for any reason, those portions of the prize will not be awarded and the remainder of the prize elements shall constitute full satisfaction of Sponsor's prize obligation to winner and no substitute or additional compensation will be awarded. Sponsor will not replace any lost, mutilated, or stolen certificates. No substitute or additional compensation will be awarded. Prize is not redeemable for cash or transferable unless otherwise agreed to be Sponsor in its sole discretion. No substitution allowed except at Sponsor's sole discretion, and in that event for a prize of equal or greater value may be substituted for any reason. The prize cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion or offer. All taxes are solely the responsibility of the Winners, who will receive an IRS Form 1099 reflecting the value of the prize.

Prize is delivered "as is" and Sponsor makes no additional warranties or guarantees as to the products. Released Parties are not responsible if the Grand Prizes or Runner-Up Prizes, or any part thereof, cannot be awarded due to any acts of God, action(s), regulation(s), order(s) or request(s) by any governmental or quasi-governmental entity (whether or not the action(s), regulations(s), order(s) or request(s) prove(s) to be invalid), equipment failure, terrorist acts, earthquake, war, fire, flood, explosion, unusually severe weather, hurricane, embargo, labor dispute or strike (whether legal or illegal), labor or material shortage, transportation interruption of any kind, work slow-down, civil disturbance, insurrection, riot, or any other cause beyond Sponsor's sole control, and shall not be responsible for any cancellations, delays, diversions or substitutions or any act or omissions whatsoever by the air carrier(s), hotel(s), or other transportation companies or any other persons providing any of these services and accommodations to passengers including any results thereof such as changes in services or accommodations necessitated by same.

Limit: One Prize per person/household. Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery of prize.

7. Release: By receipt of any prize, winners agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor, Administrator, and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, advertising/promotion agencies, and prize suppliers, and each of their respective parent companies and each such company's officers, directors, employees and agents (collectively, the "Released Parties") from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize or participation in any Contest-related activity (including travel) and for any claims based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy and merchandise delivery.

8. Publicity: Except where prohibited, participation in the Contest constitutes each winner's consent to Sponsor's and its agents' use of winner's name, likeness, photograph, voice, opinions and/or hometown and state for promotional purposes in any media, worldwide, without further payment or consideration.

9. General Conditions: Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Contest, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond Sponsor's reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of the Official Rules of this or any other promotion or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

10. Limitations of Liability: The Released Parties are not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Contest; (4) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; (5) late, lost, undeliverable, damaged or stolen mail; or (6) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant's participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize. If for any reason an entrant's entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost, or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, entrant's sole remedy is another entry in the Contest, if it is possible. If the Contest, or any part of it, is discontinued for any reason, Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may elect to judge all qualifying Submissions received up to the date of discontinuance for any or all of the prizes offered herein. No more than the stated number of prizes will be awarded.

11. Disputes: Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that: (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan (Southern Division) or the appropriate Michigan State Court located in Oakland County, Michigan; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Contest, but in no event attorneys' fees; and (3) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of New York without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of New York or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of New York.

12. Entrant's Personal Information: Entry in the Contest constitutes consent of Entrant to use personal information collected from the Entrant for purposes of administering the Contest and for such other purposes to which Entrant may consent as outlined herein or on Sponsor's website. Information collected from Entrants is subject to Sponsor's Privacy Policy, which can be found at: http://www.pier1.com/Privacy-Policy/privacy_policy,default,pg.html.

13. Request for Winner List and Official Rules: For the name of the winner and/or Official Rules, send a hand-printed, self-addressed, return postage stamped envelope to: Winners List/Official Rules (specify which) - Great Moms. Grateful Words. Mother's Day Program, 1575 Northside Drive, Bldg. 200, Suite 200, Atlanta, GA 30318. The winner list will be available after winner confirmation is complete, on or about June 1, 2014.
